NEWSWEEK

I got my issue of NEWSWEEK this month and laughed immensley when i saw the cover! (Stephen Colbert with Iraq shaved on his head because he is guest editing)

ADVICE:

  1. Flip to the back and read it, you will laugh... really hard
  2. Flip to the front and read the first few pages they will get you laughing again (only the ones by Stephen)

That's really it because i didn't feel like reading the rest!

Guitar

I recently was generously gifted a beautiful classical guitar by my cousin and alongside my other guitars. (an Epiphone Custom Phantom SG for example) Now in getting this guitar i immediatly began NOODLING! This might sound odd but since i'm really not too great it was terrifically fun! (try it) Then i just really got interested in the Beatles so i went out and got a guitar book with thirty songs of the beatles on acoustic! (also it is suggested to get a capo for some of the songs it is neccessary) In playing these it has been wonderful. If you have any suggestions for great songs it would be greatly appreciated for you to post!

Celebrity Apprentice Debate

Keep an open mind to both sides and please note i mean no malign towards either people just merely stating my opinion trying to start a debate.
Question:
Who do you think deserves or should win the Celebrity Apprentice?

Side One-
Annie Duke
Attributes:cold, intense, personal, angry, harsh, quick tempered, smart, resourceful
Other: she passes the blame onto others and if she wasn't on the show nobody would work with her because she doesn't treat them like human beings but like work drones.

Side Two-
Joan Rivers
Attributes: touchy (takes everything personal), kind, insensative, quick witted, funny,
Other: She is a fierce competitor and a good leader, but doesn't take enough control when handeling a team. Although she takes everything personal her resources are limitless and in the end nothing was left untended, no matter how unconventional. But in controling the conversation she makes herself look bad in turn (in my opinion only) and many people are hurt (or so it seems) and can't stop insulting people. (Keep Going Down)
All the competitors are strong contestents in the Boardroom otherwise they wouldn't have been picked for the show but it just so happened those two are the final two so the best of luck to both!

Shoulder!!!!!!!

One of the most complex body parts in my opinion is the shoulder. With so many capabilities it's so hard not to be intrigued!
Capabilities!

1. You are able to give the COLD SHOULDER
COLD SHOULDER- Ignoring or being passively aggressive towards another person, (male or female) otherwise known asIgnoring

2. The ability of LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER
LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER- in doing this you are able to, talk, stick your tongue out, give an evil look, smirk, grin, or be struck dumb founded!LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER (2)- A final farewell filled with meaning usually reserved for a soldier of any type to a loved one.

3. Third ability is SHOULDERING
SHOULDERING- to hold a weight passed from one person to another, also used metaphorically! Like passing a big box from mover to mover!
4. Fourth, and foremost is the SHOULDER ON THE ROAD
SHOULDER ON THE ROAD (elbow)- the shoulder of the road is on the side of the road used for bikes if a bike lane is un-available with some weird kids they mention this as an "elbow" while not thinking too hard.
This part of our body has 3 muscles and is called a deltoid and the muscle in the back is the strongest! So please take care of your SHOULDER!!!!!!!!

Modern questions for the caveman

If you were in Alaska
alone...
walking...
by yourself...
aimlessly....

Lets say suddenly you found a caveman...
in the ice...
with nobody else around...
buried...
alone...

Would you ask the caveman...
why are you alone...
why are you in ice...
why aren't you talking back...

Or would you scream like a baby for a minute and...
wake up alone...
alive...
cold...
and freak and run???

(Rockwell)
Who's watching
Tell me, who's watching
Who's watching me
I'm just an average man
With an average life
I work from nine to five
Hey, hell, I pay the price
All I want is to be left alone
In my average home
But why do I always feel
Like I'm in the twilight zone
And (I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa-oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Tell me, is it just a dream
When I come home at night
I bolt the door real tight
People call me on the phone
I'm trying to avoid
But can the people on TV see me
Or am I just paranoid
When I'm in the shower
I'm afraid to wash my hair
'Cause I might open my eyes
And find someone standing there
People say I'm crazy
Just a little touched
But maybe showers remind me
Of Psycho too much
That's why
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa, oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playin' tricks on me
[Instrumental Interlude]
(Who's watching me)
I don't know anymore
Are the neighbors watching me
(Who's watching)
Well, is the mailman watching me
(Tell me, who's watching)
And I don't feel safe anymore
Oh, what a mess
I wonder who's watching me now
(Who)
The IRS
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa, oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Tell me, is it just a dream
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa, oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playin' tricks on me
(Who's watching me)
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Oooooooh
Whooooa-oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
So ? who can it be
(Who's watching me)
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Whooooa-oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playing tricks on me
(Who's watching me)
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Can I have my privacy
Whooooa-oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playing tricks on me

Advice for the "Iphoners" at heart

If you are the owner of an Apple Iphone and don't really know how to tell if an Iphone application is as good as it sounds here are some easy tips!

Tip 1.)
Check if a "lite" version of the app. is available and if so try it out. if you don't like the lack of capabality check the whole information in the lite version and see if it says what is withheld and what options are added in the full version

Tip 2.)
Make sure you fully read the information, see if it has all the aspects of an application you would expect.

Tip 3.)
Read the Customer Reviews, see if what they say is in agreement with what you think. Also, check if they say good or bad things.

Follow these quick and easy steps and hopefully you won't be let down!

Facebook Addict

Not many people in the world realize what i have come to understand... Facebook is a "drug" of sorts and is sucking everyone in possible. Now make a comparison, Facebook has no point and draws everyone in. In reality it could be dangerous for predators, although i understand the website does everything it can disgusting people are twisted and think differently. Twitter is almost the same thing. As we recall the crime with CraigsList. So as a reminder rethink your actions and dont act rashly on the internet you never know what can happen!

Terrors of a broken wrist

This phenomenon has been going on since the stone age when if you were hurt they killed you and devoured your flesh (also took what little possessions you had sadly women were possessions then too) in some places. Nowadays, more modern science has led us to make it so that if you are hurt you arent devoured (although your girl might think you are a wimp and leave). If you aren't near a bone doctor you might be hindered in every day activites thanks to the hospital for a non-full cast and the upper arm is still exposed for further breakings.
Steps to stop further breakings:
  1. Dont jump and touch the tops of door frames
  2. Dont dance with your non devoured girlfriend if she hasnt left you
  3. NO HAVING FUN
  4. DONT DANCE PERIOD.

I hope this post has been educational for everyone!

Comparing Concentration Camp Auschwitz and Internment Camp Manzanar in 1940's WW2

Concentration Camps Compared to Internment Camps During WW2
Eccentric4/29/09
Concentration Camps Compared to Internment Camps During WW2Two places easily comparable that come to mind are Manzanar and Auschwitz. Auschwitz is the Concentration camp in this instance and Manzanar is the Internment camp. The three points I would like to touch upon are,
1. Purpose2. Living Conditions3. Food
Two different camps in two different places at the same time are dramatically different but both cause suffering.
The Purpose of Auschwitz in the beginning (1940) was to house Polish political prisoners and after the Nazis invaded Russia, Russian POW's. But that changed April 29, 1942 the first 60000 Slovak Jews were brought to a newly renovated Auschwitz and gassed in two chambers then burned in massive pits. This continued and in the end one and a half million people were killed in the concentration camp. All the way in America Manzanar's purpose was to house Japanese "citizens" (some were not citizens yet) and to make sure no spies were allowed to continue passing information to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor.
Living Conditions in Manzanar consisted of 36 Barracks hastily constructed on short notice and had partitions between rooms and no ceiling which made no privacy. My speculations for this are that they didn't want any plotting revolts or finding a way for spies to get messages to Japan. But that may not be the real reason. Furthermore, each block had a mess hall, a recreation hall, an ironing room, and a heating and oil tank. they had school facilities, a high school auditorium, plus the live stock houses in the later paragraph, a real non-lethal hospital, a store, bathroom, washing facilities, a cemetery (their bodies weren't burned), and a post office only naming some of the things and "non necessities" provided by the camp. The Concentration camp in question wasn't built for the purpose of Manzanar as I said and many of those luxuries were not provided to the "condemned" prisoners in Auschwitz. Early on when the camp housed Polish political prisoners they used a postal house and had two story barracks some sleeping on the floor some on bunks. The place had a bathroom with limited usage time and a washroom with scolding water, two buildings split up into six gas chambers, four crematoriums, also there was a mess hall. At this point in time I am not currently aware of the amounts of barracks. As you can see there is a huge difference in accommodations between these camps.
Food in Manzanar was made of hot rice and vegetables in the book Farewell to MANZANAR by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston it is quoted saying, "They issued us army mess kits, the round metal kind that folded over, and plopped in scoops of canned Vienna sausage, canned string beans, steamed rice that had been cooked too long, and on top of the rice a serving of canned apricots. The Caucasian servers were thinking that the fruit poured over rice would make a good desert." (14) Although meat was scarce they still got some in their rations and eventually they raised chicken and hogs and farmed the orchards surrounding the camp. On the other hand in Auschwitz, each prisoner got approximately 12 ounces of bread and half a liter of ersatz coffee for breakfast, and lunch was one liter of turnip and potatoes soup. For dinner they got 11 ounces of bread (approximately) and some margarine, plus 100 grams of pork anyone who missed the noon meal working got some soup too, although it was cold. The difference in food in that instance is dramatic to say the least. Not everyone in Manzanar had to work they were allowed to sit in bed whenever they wanted and if they worked they got paid; everyone living in Auschwitz was either working (for no pay) or if you were sick you were sent to the infirmary and usually never seen again thanks to the Doctor Josef Mengele who performed experiments on most of them.
Concluding, this harsh topic is difficult to get anyone’s mind around. But for all those who suffered and died we at least owe it to them to remember. These camps were different and there is a good reason for that. One was meant for killing and one was meant for housing. Two different camps in two different places at the same time are dramatically different but both caused suffering.I would like to thank the following websites:http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Manzanarhttp://www.spectacle.org/695/food.htmlhttp://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/auschwitz-birkenau.htmhttp://www.deathcamps.org/occupation/auschwitz.htmlAnd the book Farewell to MANZANAR.
